We are seeking volunteers to canvas for Janet Cowell's
NC Senate Campaign!
About
Canvassing:
Canvassing is the most effective method of introducing
a candidate to voters. Basically, it is knocking
on doors of voters, giving them a flyer, and saying
a few short words about Janet. Most contacts are quite short, but when voters
later get mail, or here an ad about the candidate, they are more likely to
take note because they remember that someone came by the house. The goal is
not to convert everyone, but just to introduce the candidate, and find those
who already support the campaign. The typical contact goes like this. “Hi,
My name is Perry. I’m just talking to your neighbors today and leaving
a little information about my friend Janet Cowell, who is running for State
Senate. We have a July 20 primary this year, and I’m out here today letting
folks know about Janet because she has been quite response to me as a City
Councilor. If you have any questions, just give a call or check out our web
site. Thanks for your time.” If folks appear supportive, you will want
to ask if they would like a yard sign, and make note. Instead of knocking on
every door, we use walk lists and knock only on doors of eligible voters to
be more efficient with our time. Once you get started, you will find that canvassing
is a fun and rewarding experience.
